6-month programme
Once your breakouts have settled, the marks they leave behind can stay for years. Acne scars form when deep inflammation damages the collagen under the skin, leaving dips, uneven texture and enlarged-looking pores. Because scarring sits below the surface, it needs treatment that works on two levels: resurfacing the skin's texture, and improving the quality of the skin underneath. Our Acne Scarring Programme combines laser and injectable skin treatments in one structured course, so you know exactly what's happening and when.
Subcision, if recommended, is available separately after a consultation with our lead doctor.
Length: approximately 6 months
Cost: £2,640
You save: £360 compared with booking each treatment separately
Cool Laser
Cool Laser uses the 2940 nm Erbium YAG wavelength to create tiny, controlled treatment zones in the skin, leaving the skin around them untouched so it heals faster. That triggers your skin's natural repair process and new collagen, which helps soften the edges of scars and gradually lift shallow dips. Its cooler approach than a CO2 laser means less heat in the skin, which lowers the risk of irritation and can suit a wider range of skin types.
What to expect: Numbing cream first. Some redness and a dry, sandpaper feel as the skin renews. Downtime is around five days on average, and can be longer if deeper settings are needed for your scars.
Plinest polynucleotides
Plinest is a polynucleotide treatment made from highly purified DNA fragments sourced from salmon. Injected in tiny amounts into the scarred areas, it supports your skin's natural repair process, improves hydration and encourages new collagen. Over the course, the skin can look thicker, healthier and more even, which helps the laser work better.
What to expect: Numbing cream first, then a series of small injections. Small bumps under the skin for 24 to 48 hours, and possible redness or bruising for a few days.
Newest
Newest combines polynucleotides with hyaluronic acid, so it supports skin repair and boosts hydration in a single treatment. It can be a good choice if your skin needs both strengthening and plumping.
Or a skin booster
If a skin booster suits you better, we'll use Restylane Vital, Restylane Vital Light or Redensity 1. These deliver hyaluronic acid into the skin, and in the case of Redensity 1, antioxidants, amino acids and vitamins too, to improve texture, firmness and glow. We'll explain which option we recommend for your skin, and why, at your consultation.
What to expect: Small injections with a fine needle. Possible mild swelling, redness or bruising for a few days.
Laser works from the surface down, resurfacing and remodelling the skin's texture. Injectables work from underneath, strengthening and hydrating the skin so it repairs better between sessions. Used together in one plan, they treat acne scarring more completely than either one alone.
Acne Scarring Programme
Save £360 compared with booking each treatment separately.
The programme is designed for adults with mild to moderate acne scarring, including rolling and boxcar scars, uneven texture and enlarged-looking pores. Very deep, narrow "ice pick" scars respond less well, and we'll be honest with you about what's realistic. Raised scars (hypertrophic or keloid scars) are not treated in this programme, and it isn't suitable if you have a history of keloid scarring.
Red or brown marks left after breakouts are not scars. They respond better to other treatments, such as our DermaV laser, and we'll recommend the right option at your consultation.
Your skin needs to have been free of active acne for at least three months before you start. If you still have active breakouts, we may suggest our Active Acne Programme first. The programme isn't suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, if you have a fish or salmon allergy (for Plinest and Newest), with a recent tan, or with some medications, including recent use of isotretinoin (Roaccutane). We'll also ask about any history of cold sores, as laser resurfacing can trigger them. We'll check all of this at your consultation.
Acne scars can be improved, but they can't be completely removed. Everyone's skin responds differently, and change happens gradually. Laser treatment can sometimes trigger a temporary flare of breakouts, but this settles. Many people notice their skin looking smoother and more even over the course of the programme, with results continuing to build for a few months after the last session as new collagen forms. Some people with deeper scarring choose to have further sessions afterwards, and we'll talk you through this at your final review.
Acne scarring is one of the most challenging skin concerns to treat. Deeper or long-standing scars often need more sessions than this programme includes, and some scars, particularly those tethered to the tissue underneath, respond best to subcision. Subcision uses a fine needle beneath the skin to release the bands of scar tissue that pull it down, allowing the scar to lift. It isn't included in the programme price and is only offered after a consultation with our lead doctor, Dr Sindhu Mazhar Siddiqi, who will assess whether it's right for you.
Book a consultation and we'll tell you honestly whether the Acne Scarring Programme is the right fit for your skin.
All treatments are subject to a consultation. Results vary from person to person.
