Seborrhoeic keratoses are common, non-cancerous skin growths. They often look waxy, rough or "stuck on", and range from light tan to dark brown or black. You may hear them called seborrhoeic warts or age spots, although they are not caused by a virus and are not contagious.
They usually appear from your 40s onwards and tend to increase in number with age. The exact cause isn't fully understood, but genetics play a strong role, and sun exposure may contribute. They are most often found on the chest, back, face, scalp and neck.
For Seborrhoeic Keratosis
Hyfrecation uses a fine probe to deliver a low-level electrical current directly to the growth. This gently dries out (desiccates) the targeted tissue, which can then be lifted away or left to form a small scab that falls off naturally as new skin forms beneath. Because the energy is so precisely controlled, hyfrecation treats only the lesion itself. This makes it well suited to small and raised growths, including those on delicate areas such as the face and neck.
