Juläine

Juläine is an injectable collagen-stimulating treatment with a pioneering internal technology that promotes low-inflammation production of type I-III collagen. Suitable for the face (forehead down), neck and body. We will tailor the treatment to where you need it most.

As we age, collagen loss doesn’t just lead to wrinkles. It weakens the skin’s internal support structure. The skin becomes thinner, less elastic and is unable to hold itself up. Juläine is designed to address this by encouraging the skin to rebuild collagen without adding volume, helping tighten and lift the skin and soften fine lines. We can apply Juläine to the full face in any areas you need it.

Developed by Swedish biotech company Nordberg Medical, Juläine is made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biostimulatory material used in medicine for decades. Once injected, it gradually stimulates the skin to produce new collagen. What’s unique about Juläine, compared to other collagen-stimulating treatments on the market, is that it doesn’t trigger “injury” in the body to produce more collagen, which ordinarily would lead to potential swelling, volume, or risk of nodules. Juläine’s low-inflammatory pathway means a lower risk of nodules or scar tissue and no unwanted puffiness.

About

About Juläine

Juläine works by placing tiny, smooth particles of poly-L-lactic acid (called microspheres) into the skin. These microspheres are designed to be uniform in size and shape, which allows them to sit evenly within the tissue rather than clumping together.

Once in the skin, these microspheres act as a gentle biological signal to fibroblasts, the cells responsible for producing collagen. Instead of triggering an injury or inflammatory response, the fibroblasts gradually interact with the surface of the microspheres and begin producing new collagen around them.

When the skin regenerates naturally, it first produces Type III collagen. This is the collagen associated with elasticity, flexibility and youthful skin. Over time, this collagen remodels and matures into Type I collagen, which provides strength and long-term structural support.

FAQs

What kind of results can be achieved?
Juläine is designed to create meaningful improvements in skin firmness and structure, rather than short-term surface changes. Over time, patients can expect the skin to feel stronger, tighter and more resilient, with improved elasticity and support. Areas that feel looser or less defined can appear more lifted, fine lines and folds soften, and the overall quality of the skin improves. Because Juläine does not add volume, the results look natural and understated. Changes develop gradually over several months, but are long-lasting, leaving the skin looking healthier, more supported and subtly rejuvenated rather than fuller or heavier.
Who is this treatment suitable and not suitable for?
Juläine is suitable for patients whose main concern is loss of skin firmness, elasticity or structural support, rather than volume loss. It’s an excellent option for those who want to tighten and strengthen the skin, improve overall skin quality, and achieve natural-looking rejuvenation without fullness or puffiness. Juläine is particularly suited to patients who prefer gradual results that improve over time. Juläine is particularly effective if you’re post-partum or have experienced weight loss from medications such as GLP-1. Juläine is not suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have active skin infections or inflammation in the treatment area. It may also not be appropriate for patients with certain autoimmune or connective tissue conditions.
How long does it last?
Juläine is designed to create longer-term improvements in skin structure rather than instant, short-lived results. Improvements develop gradually over several months as new collagen forms, with continued improvement typically seen up to 6-8 months after treatment. Results can then last up to two years, depending on factors such as age, skin quality, lifestyle and the number of sessions performed. Most patients require a course of 2-3 treatments, spaced 6-8 weeks apart, to achieve optimal results.
What is the recovery/downtime?
There is minimal downtime following Juläine treatment. You may experience mild swelling, redness or tenderness at the injection sites, as well as occasional bruising. These effects usually settle within a few days. Most patients return to normal daily activities shortly after treatment, although we recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, alcohol and facial treatments for a short period afterwards.
How painful is the treatment?
Most patients find Juläine very tolerable. The sensation is usually mild, described as pressure or a brief stinging during injection. A topical numbing cream can be used to improve comfort if needed.
Duration
The treatment duration is 30 minutes.
How is Juläine and Sculptra different?
Sculptra and Juläine are both collagen-stimulating treatments made from poly-L-lactic acid, but they are chosen for very different reasons. They often work well in combination. Sculptra has been used for 30+ years. It stimulates collagen while also providing some volume restoration. This makes it particularly effective for patients with very slim faces or visible hollowing, such as in the temples, cheeks or mid-face. Because it relies more on an inflammatory repair response, Sculptra can sometimes cause swelling, fullness, or, in rare cases, nodules. For the right patient, results can be beautiful, but it is not designed purely for tightening and only works for certain patients. Juläine, by contrast, is newer to the market and is designed for patients who want collagen stimulation without added volume. It uses ultra-refined microspheres that stimulate collagen via a low-inflammatory pathway, encouraging collagen growth gradually and evenly without relying on swelling or bulk. The focus is on improving skin firmness, elasticity and support rather than replacing lost volume. This difference in mechanism means the results look different. Sculptra tends to suit patients who need structural volume support, whereas Juläine is better suited to patients whose main concern is skin laxity, thinning or loss of firmness.
