What does Profhilo help with?

It helps with deeply hydrating the skin, improving the firmness, fine lines and pore size. It also slows down ageing, gives a gentle lift and incredible glow to your face.

What is Profhilo made of?

Profhilo is made of the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid on the market. Hyaluronic acid is a type of sugar which is naturally found in our skin. These deplete over time along with collagen which makes us lose skin elasticity. It is formulated in a unique way that does not change the shape of the face like filler but has a lifting effect.

How does it work?

We inject Profhilo in specific areas of the face (it cannot be used on the forehead or under the eyes) which are called the BAP points. This stands for Bio Aesthetic Points which have been specifically researched and chosen for the areas that will give the maximum results and safety. Once injected it slowly spreads under the skin over a period of 1-2 days and stimulates the production of your own collagen and elastin. The actual hyaluronic acid chains disappear after a few weeks so the main effect is by stimulating your own collagen.

What should I expect from the treatment?

The first time you get Profhilo you need 2 sessions around 4 weeks apart. There are 10 injections on both sides of your face (or whichever area you are treating). You are left with bumps which can take a day or two to settle. The ones on the sides of your face take a bit longer to settle but are easy to hide with hair. The ones on the cheeks and chin settle very quickly for most patients.

Are there any side effects of Profhilo?

Profhilo is a very safe treatment but also procedures carry a small amount of risk of bruising and infection. A small number of patients experience temporary facial swelling which subsides in a week or two. As with all treatments, it is important to follow the aftercare.

What areas can be treated with Profhilo?

The most common areas of treatment are the face and neck, however, can also be performed on décolletage/cleavage/lower neck, chest, hands, arms, knees, and feet.

Is Profhilo painful?

The needles used for Profhilo are very small and do not hurt much, they are smaller than the ones usually used for blood tests. However, when the product goes into the skin you do get a burning sensation. Numbing cream usually does not help much with the discomfort as it is mainly from the product spreading under the skin. However, the procedure lasts around 5 minutes and most patients tolerate it well.

Who is suitable and not suitable for this treatment?

All patients are suitable for Profhilo who have had some skin laxity. Your peak collagen is at the age of 20 after which is starts declining. This happens at different rates for people. You will see more dramatic results if you have had more skin laxity. If your main concern is forehead wrinkles, unfortunately Profhilo cannot be used here and Botulinum Toxin or skin boosters are more suitable for you. Pregnant and breastfeeding women can not have any injectable treatments due to the small risk of infection.

How is Profhilo different from fillers and skin boosters?

It is different to fillers as it does not volumise the face at all. We often use it in combination with fillers as it is important your skin matches the volume in your face. If there is good volume but you have loose skin, it does not appear natural. It is different to skin boosters as it treats deeper layers of skin than skin boosters. We also often combine with skin boosters as they do different things and skin boosters treat pores and scars in a more targeted fashion. Skin boosters can also be used on the forehead but Profhilo cannot.

How long does Profhilo last?

Results last 6-9 months. We recommend patients get a single session to top up every 3-6 months depending on the degree of skin laxity.
